About Crazy
Woman Ranch

Crazy Woman Ranch was built from a love of cattle, ranching, and the kind of beef that makes people stop and take notice.
Originally rooted in traditional beef production, our ranch has continued to evolve with a strong focus on quality, performance, and the value that Wagyu genetics can bring to Canadian cattle programs. While we primarily raised Angus cattle, we became increasingly interested in the opportunity Wagyu offered — not only for its world-renowned eating quality, but also for its potential to help producers create a more premium, profitable beef product.
That interest grew into a focused breeding program built around Wagyu and Wagyu Angus genetics.
Today, Crazy Woman Ranch is proud to offer elite Wagyu genetics, Wagyu Angus cross cattle, and premium farm-to-table beef raised right here in Northern Alberta. Our work is grounded in practical ranching values, but guided by a forward-thinking approach to genetics, performance, and long-term herd improvement.
Premium Wagyu Genetics. Farm-to-Table Beef. Raised in Northern Alberta.
Quality Beef for Every Table
Crazy Woman Ranch is a family-owned and operated ranch located near Rio Grande, Alberta. Built on a passion for good cattle, better beef, and the future of ranching, our program is focused on producing premium Wagyu and Wagyu-cross genetics for producers, breeders, and beef lovers who care about quality from the ground up.
At the heart of Crazy Woman Ranch is a simple belief: great beef starts long before it reaches the plate. It starts with intentional breeding decisions, sound genetics, responsible herd management, and cattle raised with purpose.
We are proud to offer both breeding-focused Wagyu genetics and farm-to-table beef products, giving our customers the opportunity to experience Wagyu from both sides of the industry — as producers looking to add value to their herds, and as families looking for high-quality beef raised close to home.
A Different Approach to Beef

At Crazy Woman Ranch, we believe great beef starts long before it reaches the plate.
It starts with genetics. It starts with breeding decisions. It starts with herd management, nutrition, animal care, and a commitment to quality at every stage of production.
Our focus is not simply raising cattle — it is raising cattle with purpose. Today, we proudly offer premium Wagyu and Wagyu Angus genetics, semen and embryo options, Wagyu Angus feeder cattle, and limited farm-to-table beef products raised right here in Northern Alberta.
Our goal is to produce cattle that not only perform well in the pasture, but create an exceptional end product for families who care about the quality of the beef they feed their families.
Our Breeding Program

every step matters
Our breeding program is built around carefully selected Wagyu genetics, with a strong focus on AA10 breeding and high-performing genetic potential.
We lean heavily toward AA10 genetics, with our main herd sires selected for impressive genetic profiles and our females chosen with the same careful attention to quality, performance, and future production value. Our goal is to build cattle that do more than look good on paper — we want genetics that create real value for producers and better beef for the families who enjoy it.
We use Expected Progeny Differences, commonly known as EPDs, as part of our selection process. EPDs are genetic predictions that help estimate an animal’s ability to pass on specific traits to future offspring. These traits may include growth, fertility, carcass quality, and other economically important factors.
For producers, EPDs are an important tool because they help take the guesswork out of breeding decisions. They allow ranchers to compare genetic potential and make more informed choices when selecting breeding animals, semen, or embryos.
At Crazy Woman Ranch, we use genetic information as one of the foundations of our program because we believe better data leads to better cattle.
Why Wagyu?
Quality Beef for Every Table
Wagyu is a Japanese breed of cattle known around the world for its exceptional marbling, rich flavour, tenderness, and buttery texture. For consumers, that means a more elevated eating experience. For producers, it means an opportunity to add value, improve carcass quality, and build cattle that stand out in an increasingly competitive beef industry.
Wagyu beef is especially known for its fine marbling — the intramuscular fat that contributes to tenderness, juiciness, and flavour. This marbling is one of the reasons Wagyu has earned its reputation as some of the most desirable beef in the world.
At Crazy Woman Ranch, we believe Wagyu offers something important for the future of beef production. It gives producers the opportunity to create a product that is not only premium, but also distinct. Whether through fullblood genetics, Wagyu Angus cross cattle, semen, embryos, or finished beef, Wagyu gives ranchers and consumers access to a different level of quality.
